A bit about me.

The accident that put me in a wheelchair happened 30 years ago. I was blown up in a gas explosion in a house that I was renting. It was being remodeled and some mistakes were made as they installed the new heater. I lost everything in the fire and my back was broke. I am an L1 T2 incomplete paraplegic.

I met the father of my sons a few years after the accident. We moved into a cabin up in the Maple Creek area of Humboldt County on two acres. It was the perfect home! It had solar power, natural spring water, a generator and a hydro-electric plant. It was totally off the grid except we did have a phone.

Two weeks after moving in I found out that I was pregnant. I gave birth to my first born son, Joshua, in June 1988. Then came Daniel, James and Elijah all four years apart in June and May. (I guess I am most fertile in the fall...lol )

I was with their dad for about 13 years and it progressively became a difficult and abusive marriage. He became an alcoholic and used other drugs, he choose the bottle and drugs over his family and left a damaged family behind. We all have been on our own personal journeys of healing and adjusting from this trauma.

I had to sell my dream home on the hill and come down to the town of McKinleyville to live. We barely had enough money to get into this house, but he owners worked with me, it was a miracle.

Life has always been a struggle for me, I feel like I am always on survival mode, but I have hope and faith that it gets better. Despite the struggles I am basically a happy soul. I love my boys, they bring me joy and purpose. I have raised them up as best as I can and am quite proud of them. Despite their own struggles, they are fine young men.

I went to college and earned an Associate of Science Degree in Library/Information Technology while being a stay at home mom and homeschooling them off and on as needed. I now have a pretty cool part time job at a local school library and love it.

I am a faithful friend to many, nature lover, music fiend, happy, healing, wild at times, adventurous, sensuous, romantic, love wisdom and want to know deep things of life, love to camp, kayak, read, dance, sing, my pets, to cook and eat good food, (I especially like to watch people eat my food), the color purple, books, rocks, flowers, herbs, the woods, sunsets, sunrises, the way cashmere and silk feel on my skin, tacos, popcorn, good movies, coffee, road trips, swimming, stars, wolves, good wine, the way the air smells in Autumn and the sound of running water in a creek.
